Occupational Therapy is the application of purposeful goal-oriented activity in the evaluation and treatment of people whose abilities to perform and cope with the tasks of daily living are impaired. Occupational therapy restores an individual’s independence and self-reliance by first evaluating the patient’s needs and utilizing interventions that focus on adapting the environment, modifying the task, teaching the skill, and educating the patient and family in order to increase participation in and performance of daily activities.
